What to Look for in a Future Partner – An Islamic Perspective

This interactive 2.5 hour workshop is packed with lively sessions to provide insight into the following important issues:
• Why do marriages fail?
• What do I ask if I am introduced to someone?
• Is/he she telling the truth?
• How do I know this person is the right one for me?
• Islamic jurisprudence around the marital process

These and more questions are always on the minds of our young men and women when they begin their journey of marriage. Join us on Thursday 3rd December (on Zoom!) for a live interactive educational course looking at these areas. The course will be led by Sayed Fadhel Milani, Br. Abbas Merali and Sr. Shaheen Merali, all experienced in this field. To register simply fill the form below and for just £20 transform your perspective on the most important decision you will ever make in your life!

Who is this course for?
Getting married is one of the most important decisions you will ever have to make. This course is designed to make that process a little easier for you by arming you with the right tools to make that decision the right one. It is suitable for young men and women who are at this stage and provides some answers and guidance on the above questions.

Is there an age-limit for attendees?
The course is open to all men and women 18+.

What will be the style of learning during the course?
The learning style for this course will be interactive, in that active participation of attendees is strongly encouraged and expected. Previous courses have shown that immersive learning leads to superior understanding and a better outcome for participants. During the course there will be activities, role-plays, scenarios as well as a Q&A session.

Do scholars supervise the course?
Yes. This is important due to the nature of the event. The course is supervised by Ayatollah Sayid Fadhil Milani & Dr Ali Al-Hilli.

I would like to attend, and I think it’s important, but will I be judged?
The course has been designed specifically to meet the ever-growing needs of the community. Statistics show a worrying increase in divorce rates, and the Muslim community is not excluded from this. The reasons behind this, among many, are a lack of understanding of what married life entails as well as the choice of partner. This course is therefore educational and seeks to enlighten participants pre-marriage. The course facilitators do their best to make it a fun and engaging day for all!

Have you organised similar courses before?
In January 2016, 37 young men and women took part in the first course led by the speakers, and the feedback was overwhelmingly fantastic. They have also organized four other ‘Successful Marriage’ courses for married couples as well as a parenting course.

I’m currently engaged or about to get married, is this course suitable for me?
For those engaged and married within the last five years our recommendation would be to attend the ‘Successful Marriage’ course which will be coming soon!
